Step on the cord reel pedal and the cord winds itself back in; when the pedal breaks you are back to feeding several feet of cable in by hand. Part 93001539 replaces the pedal on Hoover Duros canisters - the S3591 and S3592 - and also fits the S3590 and SH30010.
The pedal is worked with a foot and takes a fair amount of force, so it usually fails by cracking at the pivot or snapping the arm that presses the reel's release. The symptom is unmistakable: the pedal moves but nothing happens, or it stays down and the reel will not lock the cord where you set it.
With the pedal out, check that the reel spring still pulls the cord in cleanly before closing the housing back up.
