This white inlet valve, part CI358W, is the wall plate you plug the hose into on a Nutone central vacuum, listed in our fitment data against the Nutone 0613. The white finish sits quietly against most trim and paint.
Inlets wear out in the wall while everything behind them stays fine. The door stops sealing against its gasket, and from then on that inlet bleeds air into the pipe whenever anything else in the house is being vacuumed, so suction drops at every other outlet and nobody thinks to blame the one they are not using. Doors also crack at the hinge, and the plate can work loose until the whole thing wobbles.
A fresh valve reseals the wall and gives you a door that shuts properly again.
