This is the rotating brush roll for the Wessel Werk EBK280 power nozzle, the same nozzle Bosch fitted to its BSG81300 series canisters. It is sold as part 12.9283.05 and also carries the numbers 366396 and 10.7005-300.
The roll does the agitation. Its bristle strips tap the carpet and flick embedded grit up into the airstream where suction can carry it away. Bristles wear short and lie flat with use, hair winds into the end caps and stiffens the bearings, and the result is a nozzle that sounds fine but leaves tracks of grit behind on carpet and rugs.
Swapping it is a bottom-plate job on the nozzle. With the plate off, check the belt and clear the bearing ends of wrapped thread, and match the roll length to the one you pull out before ordering.
