Inside a TurboCat EX, the turbine is the engine: airflow from the central vacuum spins it, and it drives the brush roll - no electricity, no batteries. This replacement turbine assembly, part 8558, is the fix when that drive gives out.
A failing turbine announces itself. The brush roll slows or stops even though suction feels normal, or the head develops a screech or rattle as worn bearings drag. Because the whole nozzle depends on the turbine to turn the brush, a worn one reduces a TurboCat EX to a plain suction head that leaves carpet pile flat.
The assembly is built to the original specifications for the Turbo Cat EX, so it drops into the existing housing and restores the brush drive. If your air-driven nozzle is a different TurboCat model, check its part number before ordering - turbines differ between versions.
