The exhaust plate on the Titan T1400 compact canister is the cover that holds the HEPA exhaust filter in its seat. This is the genuine Titan replacement, part 17-2333-05.
It matters more than a cover normally would. All the air leaving the machine passes the filter, and it is the plate that decides whether that air goes through the media or slips around the edge of it. When the plate cracks or its retaining clips break, the filter shifts, the seal opens, and the machine starts putting dust back into the room. That shows up as a fine film on furniture rather than as anything you can hear.
Fit the new plate and check the filter sits flat and evenly compressed behind it before closing the machine up.
