A 14 inch wooden brush roll, part D012-0200, for the Riccar and Simplicity 4000 and 6000 series uprights and the Vibrance and Symmetry machines, including the Riccar R100 and R500, the Simplicity 6370, 6470, 6600 and 6670, and the S20E and R20E.
Wood is still used here because a wooden core runs quieter than a plastic one and stays straight under a tight belt. The bristle tufts do the actual work, standing the carpet pile up so the airflow can pull out what is trapped down at the base of the fibers.
Bristles wear short and splay outward, and once they no longer reach into the carpet the machine glides over it. The surface looks vacuumed, the pile stays matted, and pet hair gets left behind entirely. Cutting away wrapped hair and thread at each bag change buys a roll a good deal more life.
