This brush roll replaces the agitator in the Bissell Power Glide 3545 upright, part B102, and it also fits the Bissell 3401. It is the roller that runs the width of the nozzle, driven by the belt, with bristle rows that beat the carpet pile as the machine moves.
Power Glide rollers usually die by strangulation rather than age. Hair, thread and pet fur wind around the shaft and under the end caps until the roller drags, the belt slips and the machine smells hot. The bristles themselves round over and lie down at the same time, so the nozzle glides over the carpet without disturbing anything in it.
A new roller puts the beating back into the carpet, and the difference shows up straight away in what ends up in the bag. Clear the ends before fitting and check the belt while you are in there.
