This is the pipe fire barrier for Hayden central vacuum installations, part 761455. It is an installation fitting used where central vacuum tubing passes through a wall, floor or ceiling that has to keep its fire separation intact.
It matters because central vacuum pipe is buried infrastructure. Once the drywall is up, a missing or incorrect barrier at a penetration is expensive to reach, and inspectors look for one in exactly the places that are hardest to open later. Fitting the right component at rough-in is far cheaper than opening a ceiling afterwards.
