This is the paper bag inlet for Carpet Pro uprights, part 89.855, listed for the CPU-1T. It is the moulded fitting the bag collar slides onto inside the outer bag - the joint between the fan chamber and the bag itself.
Because it is plastic and gets handled at every bag change, it cracks. A split inlet lets dirty air escape into the outer bag instead of passing through the paper, so dust coats the inside of the bag chamber, the exhaust starts to smell, and pickup falls away even with a new bag fitted. A bag that keeps popping off mid-clean is the other tell.
The same inlet runs across the Carpet Pro CPU and CMP uprights, the Clean Max CMPSQD, the Fuller Brush FBHD and FBPHD machines, and the Titan T4000 and TC6000.
