This is the nozzle housing base for the Oreck UK30100, UK30100PC and UH30100COM uprights, part 430000202. It is the lower shell of the cleaning head, the piece everything else bolts into: brush roll, wheels and the nozzle inlet itself.
Bases do not wear out so much as break. A hard knock into a stair riser, or years of leverage at the pivot, splits the plastic around a mounting point, and from then on the head has a hinge where it should be rigid. You feel that as a head that rocks, cleans better on one side than the other, or throws its belt because the roller can no longer sit square.
Move the wheels, roller and belt across as a set when you fit the new base, and check the belt while the head is apart.
