Maytag Grooved Belt - M1200 Upright Vacuum

Part A014-0100 is the grooved drive belt for the Maytag M1200 upright. It runs from the motor shaft to the brush roll, and its ribbed profile is what lets it hold torque on the pulley instead of slipping under load the way a plain round belt does.

Belts stretch long before they break. The brush roll turns slower against carpet, hair stops clearing off it, and pickup drops even though suction at the hose is unchanged. A burning-rubber smell means the belt is already slipping on a stalled roller — stop and replace it, because the heat goes into the pulley next.

Check that the roller turns freely by hand while the belt is off, and clear any wrapped hair from the end caps at the same time. A new belt on a seized roller will not last the week.
