Complete surface nozzle assembly for the Kirby Sentria II, part 215412. The surface nozzle is the wide above-floor head that goes on the end of the hose or wand for rugs, stair treads and upholstery, and this is the whole assembly rather than a single insert or strip.
Nozzles get replaced because they get dropped and stepped on. A cracked throat or a broken collar lets air in where suction should be, so the head skims across a rug without gripping it and picks up a fraction of what it used to. A split lip will also snag on loose weave and fringe, which turns a cleaning job into a repair job.
This is the Sentria II version. Kirby's above-floor heads look alike from one generation to the next but the fittings differ, so check the model badge on your machine rather than matching by eye.
