This is the headlight cap trim strip for the Kirby Sentria II, part 163512, also catalogued as K-163512. It is the narrow finishing strip that runs around the headlight cap on the front of the nozzle housing, covering the joint and holding the surrounding trim in line.
Trim on a Kirby lives at ankle height and takes every collision with a table leg and door frame. The strip cracks, lifts at one end, or goes missing entirely, at which point the edge beneath is exposed and the neighbouring pieces have nothing keeping them straight.
Clean the seating channel out before pressing the new strip in. Grit left in the groove stops it sitting flush and is the usual reason a replacement pops back out a week later.
