Hoover Steam Vacuum Cap - Clean Water Tank

Hoover part 440015235 is the clean water tank cap for the FH68000 range, the small component that decides whether the tank above it actually seals.

It is handled at every refill, which is why the thread wears and the gasket flattens long before anything else on the tank does. Once it stops sealing, the machine draws air along with the solution: spray comes out in bursts, then thins, and solution seeps around the neck and down the housing while the machine is carried between rooms.

A new cap costs a fraction of a tank and often resolves a spray complaint on its own. It fits the Hoover FH68000, FH68010, FH68020, FH68040DI, FH68050 and FH68060. Wipe the sealing face at every fill, because a strand of carpet fibre laid across the gasket is enough to break the seal.
