This is a kit rather than a single latch, and it is worth fitting all of the pieces together. Latch components wear as a set, so pairing one new piece with worn ones leaves the tension uneven and the panel still sitting slightly proud along one edge.
The failure it fixes is a panel that will not stay shut. On a machine carried on someone's shoulders and set down a hundred times a shift, a cracked latch means the side pops open under movement, which exposes the internals and lets dust out exactly where the seal should be holding it in.
