Every particle the machine does not keep goes out through the exhaust filter, which is why this one, Hoover part 440014853, matters more than its size suggests. It is the exhaust filter for the MAXLife Elite Swivel Pet uprights.
Two things happen as it loads up. Airflow through the whole machine drops, because the motor now has to push against a clogged filter as well as pull through the floor head, and the exhaust starts to smell. That stale, slightly musty note coming off a vacuum is nearly always a saturated exhaust filter, and neither symptom improves with tapping the filter out.
It fits the UH75100, UH75110, UH75110V, UH75120, UH75140, UH75150, UH75160, UH75200, UH75200V, UH75210, UH75210V, UH75240, UH75250 and UH75260.
