SEBO Complete Front Bottom Plate for AUTOMATIC X2 and X5 — Gray Black

Item 134 on SEBO's AUTOMATIC X4/X5 parts sheet is the front bottom plate, and 5413GS is the gray black moulding sold complete for the AUTOMATIC X2 and the AUTOMATIC X5. It is the panel you see first when the cleaning head is tipped over: the leading strip of plastic running the full width of the sole, wrapping the front lip of the brush opening.

Everything about how the head meets the carpet passes through this piece. It sets the ride height at the front edge, holds the intake opening to the right shape, and gives the pile adjustment wheel at item 132 something square to work against when the height is dialled up or down. Surface scratching across the underside is normal and makes no difference to pickup. A crack, a broken mounting boss or a missing corner is another matter — the head then rocks instead of tracking flat, unmetered air enters through the split rather than through the brush opening, and the loose edge can score a hard floor.

Fitting one is a mechanical job once the head is turned over. The fasteners release, among them the M4 screw drawn at item 139, and the new moulding drops onto the same bosses. Look over the hinge at item 129 and the rear plate at item 135 while everything is exposed, since all three take their wear from the same carpet.
