This is the 12-inch brush roll for Sanitaire and Eureka Victory uprights, part EK207, measuring 12-1/4 inches end to end. It fits the 3041 and the AS-series machines: AS1000A, AS1002A, AS1004A, AS1004A1, AS1008AX, AS1049A, AS1050A, AS1051A and AS1053AX, under both the Eureka and the Sanitaire badge.
Bristles wear down long before a brush roll fails outright. The vacuum still sounds right and still pulls air, but the carpet stops looking cleaned. Pile is not being agitated, so soil stays down in it and pet hair rides over the top. Pull the roll and look along the bristle rows; flattened, splayed or uneven tufts mean it is done.
Cut hair and string off the end caps whenever you have it out, since that is what kills the bearings.
