This is the pre-motor filter for Sanitaire 5840 Lite Speed uprights and their Eureka equivalents, part 71480. It is the small pad that sits between the bag compartment and the motor, roughly 2 by 2 by 3/4 inches, and it is the last thing catching dust before the motor inlet.
Pre-motor filters are the cheapest part in the machine and the one most often skipped. When one clogs, suction drops even with a fresh bag fitted, and the motor runs hotter than it should because it is being starved of air. A grey, matted pad is past saving.
Supplied as a single filter. It covers the C5712A and C5712A-1, the SC5713B and SC5713D, and the SC5745B, SC5815E, SC5845B and SC5845D under both the Eureka and Sanitaire names.
