Dirt Devil Fork Bolt - All Royal Upright Models

The fork bolt, part 1801708000, is the fastener that ties the handle fork to the body on Royal and Dirt Devil upright vacuums, including the Dirt Devil 089000. It is a single piece of hardware carrying a joint that gets loaded every time the machine is pushed, pulled or tipped back onto its wheels.

When it works loose the handle picks up a wobble, and steering starts to feel vague, as though the machine is a step behind where you are pointing it. Left alone, the movement wears the fork and the body mount around the bolt, turning a hardware replacement into a much bigger repair. If the bolt has fallen out entirely the handle will simply flop.

Fit the correct bolt rather than a hardware-store approximation. Thread pitch and seating depth are what stop it either bottoming early or chewing the fork as it tightens.
