Weak pickup from a machine whose motor still sounds healthy tends to point at the air channel rather than the motor. Part 2839SW is the black cover that closes that channel on the SEBO ESSENTIAL G1, ESSENTIAL G2, ESSENTIAL G4 and ESSENTIAL G5, keeping the airstream on its intended route from the floor head up into the bag instead of letting the fan draw from inside the body.

An upright only pulls hard at the nozzle if everything between the nozzle and the bag is sealed. This cover is one of those seals. Once it is cracked, warped by heat, or held down by fewer screws than it left the factory with, air takes the short cut: the machine still runs, still sounds normal, and still lifts fine dust from hard floors, but it stops digging into carpet pile and fine debris gets left behind on a second pass.
