The bumper on a Panasonic MC-V5710 upright is the strip that takes the knocks so the housing and your walls do not. Part AC10AJPZV07 replaces it.
Nobody changes a bumper because the vacuum stopped working — it is a part you notice after the fact, when a baseboard has picked up a grey mark or the front corner of the nozzle has started to chip.
