Part 84RBHS0000AM is a wooden brush roll for Kenmore upright vacuums, measuring 14 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches high, with half-moon, or U-shaped, end caps. It also carries the numbers 8192015, 8174968 and 84RBH51000AM.
The end cap shape is what decides whether this one fits your machine, and it is worth checking before you order. Pull the old roller and look at the ends: if they form a U or half-moon profile rather than a full circle, this is the right agitator. Round caps are a different part.
Brush rolls wear from the bristles inward. Once the bristles are short and rounded they stop reaching into the carpet pile, and the vacuum runs sounding exactly as it always did while leaving the carpet looking tired. Hair wound tightly around the roller ends is the other reason to replace one.
