Brush roll for the Bissell 2284 cordless hand vacuum, part 1608656. It is the powered roller in the head that agitates carpet and upholstery so the small motor behind it has something to lift.
On a handheld, brush wear shows up faster than on an upright because there is so little suction to compensate. Flattened bristles stop making contact with the fabric, and what used to come off a stair or a car seat in one pass now needs three. Hair wrapped at the ends is the other half of the problem, binding the roller until it turns slowly or stalls under pressure.
Cut wrapped hair away rather than pulling it through the bearings, and check the new roller spins freely by hand before the head goes back together.
