This is the belt cover for the TurboCat EX turbine power nozzle, part 8413. It is the moulded panel over the belt and drive side of the nozzle, and its job is to keep fingers, carpet fringe and stray hair away from the belt while holding that side of the nozzle closed.
Covers get broken rather than worn out. The clips snap when the nozzle is opened once too often for a belt change, or the panel cracks after the head is dropped or run hard into a baseboard. Once it no longer clips down it rattles as you sweep and eventually parts company with the machine, leaving the belt exposed. Fit it to a TurboCat EX nozzle, and if yours is a different air-driven head, check the cover profile against your machine before ordering, because these panels are model specific.
