This assembly, part 561059102, pairs the dirt basket with its pre-filter for the Kenmore DS4020 stick vacuum. The basket holds what the machine picks up; the pre-filter sits behind it and catches the fine dust that would otherwise reach the motor. They work as a set, which is why they are supplied as one.
A loaded pre-filter is the usual reason a stick vacuum loses suction while still sounding perfectly healthy: the airflow is being strangled before it ever reaches the fan. A cracked basket or a distorted rim causes the same complaint by a different route, letting air bypass the filter altogether.
It fits the Kenmore DS4020 and DS4065.
