The door is what gets opened for belt and brush access, so its hinge sees more cycles than almost anything else on the head. As the spring slackens or the axle wears its bore oval, the door stops sitting flush: it hangs open a few millimetres, drags on carpet as the head is pulled back, rattles over hard floors, and eventually breaks at the pivot where the plastic has been working. Fitting the assembled part restores the pivot and the closing tension in one go, with no hardware to transfer across from a broken door and nothing to line up by hand.
